Route 5 starts at Namwon Pogu (Port) and follows the most beautiful seaside trail to eventually reach the Soesokkak Estuary. Today was calm and with a public holiday for Children’s Day, quiet.
The Korean National Institute of Fisheries Science was celebrating its 95th birthday today as we walked past and we were given presents of rice cakes and a gym towel with their logo. How nice!

Route 5 starts at Namwon Pogu (Port)

The path follows the coast …

… above 20 meter high cliffs

Looking down into the sea

Bird fishing in the rock ponds

Seongwangsa Temple

Seongwangsa Temple Guards

Temple decorations for Buddha’s birthday

Woman weeding – she squats on a pad attached to her waist

A gift of rice cakes from the Korean National Institute of Fisheries Science celebrating their 95th birthday

A grave in a tangerine orchard

Fishing is a popular pastime along this coast

Rest hut

The trail continues …

… to Soesokkak Estuary at the end of Route 5

We would have liked a ride on a Teu (traditional hand pulled raft)
