Route 4 starts at Pyoseon, an attractive small town with a white sand beach at the river mouth, following the coast before climbing through tangerine orchards to Mang-oreum (175m) and returing to the coastal path again.
After finishing Route 3 and 6km into Route 4 we overnighted at Etoile Jeju. There’s no shops around there but we’d bought our supplies back at Pyoseon.
Next day we continued 18km on to the end of Route 4, all the while battered by strong headwinds.
Salt marshes near the start of Route 4
No shortage of toilets on the Jeju Olle
There are fish farms all along this coast
The apartments where we stayed have seen better days
Route 4 coastal path
The route heads inland between tangerine orchards
Looks like an interesting place to stay
Dappled shade, pine needles under foot, birds singing and no wind!
Korean Black Pines on the top of the Mang-oreum (175m)
Traditional water pot and carrying basket
Locals believed that this steam runs backwards up Mt Hallasan
Back on the coast and coffee ahead
No diving with the wind today so women are selling shellfish by the roadside
