We went to Zochimilco (Land of Flowers) about an hour south-east of the center of Mexico City. Known for its extensive canals and colorful trajineras (flat bottom boats) it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Area preserving historical agricultural practices on floating islands. Being Sunday and Fathers Day, we expected lots of boats, lots of noise, lots of Mexicans partying!

And some Mexican breads to take away
Leaving the Embarcadero (wharf)
At peak times, 2000 trajineras are on the canals, chaos!
