Camino del Cid

Santa María de Huerta to Monreal de Ariza

Friday 26 May 2023

Distance: 10.8 km Time: 2:40 Ascent: 40m Descent: 90m – Wikiloc

We decided to go off Camino del Cid to visit the historic village of Monteagudo de las Vicarías, one of Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España (Most Beautiful Villages in Spain). It’s only 15 km from Santa María de Huerta.

It took 10 minutes in a taxi from Santa María de Huerta to Monteagudo de las Vicarías (pop 193) where we were the only tourists. We made up a 10 km walk along dirt farm roads to the Hotel Ciudad Arcóbriga, on the highway 3 km from Monreal de Ariza.
