We flew from Alicante to Palma to walk along the Serra de Tramuntana Mountains.

Palma de Mallorca (pop 431,000) is located on the island of Mallorca within the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea about 250 km east of the Spanish mainland. Founded by the Romans in 123 BC, after being in the hands of the Vandals and the Arabs it was conquered in 1229 by Aragon and later became its own kingdom.

The Balearic Islands and Catalunya share historical ties and cultural similarities, including a common language, Catalan. However the Balearic Islands are a separate autonomous community.
