Gently downhill and mostly on a Rail Trail made for easy going with stops at Caudé and Concud.
Teruel
A local we met described the old town of Teruel as “pequeña pero chula” (small but cool) so a good place for a day off hiking.
Teruel to La Puebla de Valverde
We shortened the day by taking the train to Puerto Escandon station and walking from there along the Rail Trail.
La Puebla de Valverde to Valbona
We walked along the MontañasVacías (Empty Mountains) trail which goes across some of the most depopulated areas of Europe.
Valbona to Mora de Rubielos
Continuing on the MontañasVacías (Empty Mountains) trail with a gentle climb from 950m to 1040m over 10 km.
Mora de Rubielos
We spent a day in Mora de Rubielos, one of Spain’s Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Villages).
Mora de Rubielos to Rubielos de Mora
We enjoyed walking to Fuente del Hocino (7.5 km) along old trails between dry stone walls. Then rain put us on the road.
Rubielos de Mora to Olba
We were expecting the walking path to be muddy and slippery after last night’s rain so we followed the mountain bike route.
Olba to Montanejos
We walked along the road, the first panoramic road to be listed by Comunidad Valenciana.
Montanejos to Jérica
We walked to Montán, took a bus to Caudiel then it’s an easy walk along the Rail Trail to Jérica.
Jérica to Segorbe
An easy enough walk today along the Via Verde Ojos Negros Rail Trail.
Segorbe
We spent a day in Segorbe – Iberian, Roman, Gothic, Muslim, Catholic.
Segorbe to Torres Torres
Bus to Sot de Ferrer, walk to Torres Torres. Then bus to Sagunto.
Torres Torres to Sagunto
We spent the night in Sagunto, then returned to Estivella by train to continue walking back to Sagunto.
Sagunto to El Puig
An easy walk using the E8 Via Agusta bike route that goes on to Cadiz.
El Puig to Valencia
On the final day of “The Conquest of Valencia” we rejoined the E8 Via Agusta Bike/Walk Route until it finished on the edge of Valencia city.
