This is the first part of our 10 day Intrepid “4WD Darwin to Broome Overland”. We had wanted to see the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles) since it was “discovered” by a mustering helicopter pilot in 1983 and finally we made it there.
Perth to Pemberton (August 2021)
We enjoyed a few days in Fremantle with a day on Rottnest Island to see the Quokkas before leaving Perth in an Apollo campervan. There are already lots of wildflowers blooming and we managed a day’s wine tasting in the Margaret River region.
Pemberton to Esperance
From Pemberton to Lucky Bay east of Esperance via Western Australia’s first European settlement of Albany and the wildflower rich Ravensthorpe.
Lucky Bay
Officially the whitest beach in Australia if not the world, it’s washed by turquoise-coloured waters. Such a beautiful place with the best National Park campgrounds we’ve seen, lots of wildflowers and birds so we decided it needed a blog of its own.
Esperance to Perth
Back to Perth via Wave Rock, Tin Horse Highway, Pingrup Silos and the Collie Dam Mural after driving 2,900km in two weeks.
